Wake Up Safely

RUNTER VOM GAS

A rather unusual directing project for me.

Actually, I do mostly comedy commercials. In my opinion, clever entertainment is a good launcher for almost every message. In this project I was enthusiastic about the surprising idea that hits the heart of the matter. The ping and the pong with the creatives led to the execution as a onetake.

The camera moves back from the supposedly contented slumbering boy. It seems that he fell asleep in the back seat of the car at night and is carried to bed by his father at the end of the trip. The journey backwards shows the actual reality and the whole extent of an accident.

The film picked up a lot of people emotionally, on YouTube alone it had 1,6 million views. It appeared in editorial TV reports on almost all German channels, and was also discussed in influential newspapers and magazines, including ZEIT, Süddeutsche, Spiegel and stern.

Furthermore, there was very good feedback in creative magazines like Shots and Lürzer’s. It’s nice that the movie has reached people, especially because it’s for a really good thing.
