Just A Frame, Two Wheels & An Engine

EHINGER

I met Uwe Ehinger in 2015. He was the only European guest of honour at one of the most important events of the custom bike scene in the USA. Each guest of honour will be introduced during the show with a short film portrait and I was allowed to realize that portrait of Uwe. While working together, I very quickly realized that there was more to Uwe than just an ambitious motorcycle wrench. Highly intelligent, sensitive, creative – behind of its rough shell hides an impressive personality.

Through interested inquiries and the trust that has been built up over time I heard more and more detailed and intimate details and was fast fascinated by the life story of this man, which offered everything a good story has: Unique and exciting, adventurous and surprising, conflictual and tragic.

Uwe Ehinger was born in 1960 and grew up in the Hamburg district Wellingsbüttel. He studied particle physics and mechanical engineering. At the age of 19, he went to South America to finance his studies with the trade of old motorcycles. Soon it became clear to me that I had to make a documentary out of these experiences. I was more impressed by his story than most of what I saw at the cinema.

We are currently developing the documentation. This year it was supported by Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein. We will continue to move forward so well together to make the film this year.

What story should your company tell?

About the Author

Waldemar Obermann

Waldemar Obermann I was born in 1984 in Osakarowka, Kazakhstan and came to Hamburg at the age of 8. As the son of a passionate amateur filmmaker, I was confronted with the medium of film at an early age and developed a fascination for the moving image. After I had to give up my dream of a professional soccer career due to an injury, I studied media informatics and have been working as an editor, cameraman and director ever since. After several short films and music videos, "Jetzt ist später" is my first feature-length documentary.
