Big Boys Don’t Cry

KFC

It was an honour to work on this piece, I am passionate about gender representation, and I thought that this script tackled a very pressing issue in today’s society, the fact that we so often don’t allow boys (and men) to honestly express their emotions. It was a beautifully written story – simple and clear – and yet incredibly moving. We didn’t only want to depict the father as a “bad guy”, he was just doing the best for his son because he wanted him to succeed in life. We wanted to show the complexity of parent-child relationships, and that sometimes even the hardest of characters can redeem themselves.
